MICA PGDM 2020 — Admission Shortlisted Criteria

Admission Shortlisting Criteria is an important feature of the admission process as it assures whether the candidate will be shortlisted for the final selection or not. MICA Shortlisting process is a 3 step process which is given below:

Step 1: CAT/ XAT/GMAT

If a candidate has appeared for more than one exam (CAT, XAT and GMAT) the better of the two/ best of the three exams’ performance will be considered. Candidates must enter the scores of any one of the exams. GMAT scores can be from 2018 onwards.

Step 2: MICAT Scores

All candidates are evaluated on MICAT, which consists of 3 sections

  1. Section A: Psychometric Test
  2. Section B: It contains 4 sub-sections namely Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, General awareness; Divergent and Convergent Thinking
  3. Section C: Descriptive Test.

Candidates need to secure the minimum required cut off marks in the MICAT entrance exam. Also, they would need to fulfil the individual cut-offs required for each section of the MICAT exam.

Step 3: Group Exercise and Personal Interview

All the candidates shortlisted based on their performance in CAT/XAT/GMAT and the MICAT test will have to appear for the Group Exercises and Personal Interview Rounds. The selection criteria for shortlisting candidates for the GE and PI exercises are as given below:

  • The first section that is section A of the MICAT exam is a qualifier.
  • The candidate’s performance in CAT/XAT/GMAT will be considered for the candidates who qualify the psychometric exam. Candidates who fulfil minimum required cut-offs for the CAT/XAT/GMAT will be considered for the next round.
  • Candidates who qualify on the basis of their CAT/XAT/GMAT scores will be assessed for their performance in Section B of the MICAT entrance exam.
  • Candidates who pass on the basis of relative performance subject to a minimum cut-off in *Normalized Scores of Section B of MICAT shall have their Section C of MICAT exam evaluated. Each section will have its own cut-off.
  • Candidates who pass on the basis of all the above-mentioned criteria are considered for shortlisting for Group Exercise and Personal Interview Rounds. (GE and PI candidate list is prepared on the Composite Score formula of 50% CAT/XAT/GMAT and 50% MICAT scores).
